“small” Atlantic crossing from Gibraltar to Tenerife
Gibraltar - Tenerife
For sailors – “small” Atlanticcrossing with the KAIRÓS to Tenerife – sailing as part of the crew
This trip is not for passengers, but for real sailors! On the KAIRÓS, we cross part of the Atlantic from Gibraltar to Tenerife, and you are right in the middle of it instead of just being there. As part of the crew, you will take part in watches, steer the ship, trim the sails and navigate the ocean together with the experienced regular crew.
The “medical” is mandatory for this trip and sailing experience is welcome, as teamwork counts on board! Accompanied by the constant trade winds, we enjoy the pure feeling of sailing: endless expanses, breathtaking sunrises and the interplay of wind and waves. An ideal opportunity for anyone who wants to collect ocean miles for their SHS/RYA sailing license or actively experience Atlantic under sail.
Of course, we also offer our usual service and delicious food from our regular crew.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Arrival and departure
You can easily travel to the ports in the Mediterranean with the usual airlines. The best way to reach Cape Verde and the Azores is via Lisbon. The return journey from the Caribbean to Europe is usually via London or Paris. For the return crossing to the Mediterranean, fly via London to Antigua. Depending on the duration of your journey, you should allow a buffer of 1-3 days for the return flight or book a rebookable ticket.
What is included on this trip?
The cruise price includes: Costs for the nautical crew and service, accommodation on board in the booked category, sea transportation, full board on board, water, tea, filter coffee.
The price does not include: arrival and departure, transfers, soft drinks, Nespresso and alcoholic drinks and tips.
Special: Please note that the service is limited during transfers. Participants are regarded as co-sailors who can also assist the crew with watches and other customary work on board. As the sea can sometimes be rough, a certain level of physical fitness is required. Sailing experience is an advantage. Possible ports and stopovers depend on the route and the time frame. The captain makes the final decision. Depending on wind and weather conditions as well as technical conditions on board, the start and duration of the transfer voyage and any stopovers may vary without this giving rise to any further claims on either side. For the return flight, a buffer of at least 1 day (regular transfers), min. 2 days (‘small’ Atlantic crossing) or min. 3 days (Atlantic crossing) or a rebookable ticket can be booked. During a transfer, the ship is brought from A to B within a specified period of time, and we may also have to use the engine. We would like to point out that any known pre-existing conditions must be reported in good time before the start of the trip and that we require a doctor’s confirmation.
Wind and weather forecast
Sailing on the Atlantic is usually associated with the trade winds, which blow constantly in many parts. The weather can vary on long crossings, from calm conditions to heavy seas, and the influences of the Gulf Stream and crossing cold fronts require special attention. Up-to-date weather information is crucial for navigating through the various conditions in the Atlantic.

A wonderful Atlantic crossing
I experienced a wonderful Atlantic crossing and still think about it every day. What a feeling to be out there "all alone" for 3 weeks; that will always be a part of me.... And then the nice conversations with great people, as they say: all in the same boat. The crew were great; with Sandy and Agi I felt it always seemed like it was their first day on board, so full of energy and friendliness; a hearty Merci, as we say here in Switzerland.... It was an incredible experience for me and I'm already looking forward to another sailing trip (this time with my husband).
