Sailing trip Martinique

Sailing in the Caribbean | Martinique - Guadeloupe - Dominica

The French island (Departement d’outre mer) Martinique is the most populated of the Lesser Antilles and Fort de France is also the only major city. To the south lies the idyllic bay of Le Marin with its many beautiful beaches and luxury resorts…

On the sailing trip north we reach Dominica (also a separate state). This still very pristine island, where indigenous people from the Caribbean tribe still live, is still an insider tip with its volcanoes, waterfalls and tropical nature. The butterfly island of Gouadeloupe and the Iles des Saints in front of it are once again French and also form the backdrop for the crime series “Death in Paradise”. The fascinating Route Traversal, a rum museum and great beaches are also worth a trip. And last but not least, the oldest marine reserve in the world – the Jaques Cousteau Reserve – invites you to snorkel and dive.

Arrival & Departure

Martinique can be reached daily with AirFrance and feeder flights from all major airports via Paris Charles de Gaulle. Alternatively, there is the option of traveling via/from the USA (direct flight from Miami). Our sales team or our partner travel agency will be happy to assist you with your flight booking. We are also happy to make recommendations for hotel stays.

WIND & Weather

We only sail outside the hurricane season, i.e. from December to April in the Caribbean.
The constant trade winds that blow 9 out of 10 days – unique in the world – make this region a paradise for sailors. The trade winds can sometimes reach up to force 6, just right for our large sailing yachts…

Highlights

On the route south, we first come to Saint Lucia, which is famous above all for its two basalt cones, the Pitons, but which offers much more with a botanical garden in the interior and the Hurricane Hole of Marigot Bay – where the Pina Colada was supposedly invented.

To the south is Saint Vincent, which scores particularly well with its famous beaches and Wallilabou Bay as the filming location for “Pirates of the Carribbean”.
Via Bequia and the celebrity island of Mustique with the famous Basil’s Bar, we then reach the Grenadines, three islets behind the Horseshoe Reef.
