Best time to visit
The best time for a sailing vacation on the Amalfi Coast is in summer. On a sailing yacht you are away from the mass tourism and it is always a little cooler than on land due to the wind. The mostly light thermal winds ensure relaxed sailing in this magnificent area.
Sailing conditions
The Tyrrhenian Sea offers ideal conditions for connoisseurs and beginners. Gentle to moderate winds blow from westerly directions and enable relaxed, authentic sailing. Thanks to the short distances between the islands and coastal towns, there is plenty of time for shore excursions, swimming stops and culinary experiences.
Getting there
There are direct daily flights to Naples International Airport (NAP) from many European cities, including Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, Zurich and Berlin. From there, you can easily reach the port of embarkation in Naples or Salerno by taxi or shuttle (approx. 20–40 minutes). If you want to travel in a more climate-friendly way, you can take the train to Naples via Rome – the Trenitalia and Italo express trains connect the two cities in around 1 hour.

Important information
From May to October, the Gulf of Naples offers ideal sailing conditions with temperatures between 22 and 30 °C. Light to moderate winds (usually 3-5 Bft) ensure relaxed, pleasant sailing with plenty of sunshine and calm seas – perfect for connoisseurs.
The Amalfi Coast is ideal for beginners and connoisseurs. Short distances, sheltered bays and stable weather make this area particularly pleasant. Experienced sailors also appreciate the authentic sailing experience and the variety of landscapes.
The nearest airport is Naples (NAP). From there, you can easily reach the Marina d’Arechi in Salerno in around 60 minutes, either by taxi, organized transfer or hire car. Alternatively, there are regular trains from Naples to Salerno (approx. 40 minutes); it is only a few minutes from the station to the marina.
All sailing trips along the Amalfi Coast start and end in the Marina d’Arechi in Salerno, south of Naples. From here, your cruise begins along the most beautiful stretches of Italian coastline – via Capri, Amalfi and Ischia, depending on the route and wind conditions.
Yes – in true Sailing Classics style, the wind determines the course. The route can be flexibly adapted to enjoy the best sailing conditions and most beautiful bays. Authentic sailing is our focus, not a rigid timetable.
Naturally. We regularly anchor for swimming stops in beautiful bays and offer shore excursions to charming coastal towns or sights such as Capri, Amalfi or Ravello.
For a summer sailing trip on the Amalfi Coast we recommend light, comfortable clothing, sturdy shoes for shore excursions, swimwear, a light windbreaker as well as a sun hat and sun protection. A soft travel bag is better than a hard-shell suitcase, as it is easier to stow in the cabin. Towels, shampoo and usually also sun protection products are already available on board.
The double cabins offer storage in a wardrobe, on shelves and under the beds – enough for the luggage of a one- to two-week trip. As space is limited on any yacht, foldable travel bags are better suited than hard-shell suitcases. The cabins are air-conditioned and each has its own bathroom.
The price at Sailing Classics includes the nautical crew and service, accommodation in the cabin category booked, sea transport and full board on board with water, tea and filter coffee. Not included are travel to and from the yacht, transfers, soft drinks, Nespresso and alcoholic drinks, shore excursions and gratuities. It is also customary to spend one evening a week trying the local cuisine ashore at your own expense.
