The Azores offer a unique sailing experience in the heart of the Atlantic. On a sailing trip from Faial via São Jorge, Pico and Terceira, you will experience the diversity of these fascinating islands, which captivate with their spectacular landscapes, vibrant nature and authentic culture. A special highlight awaits you in the port of Horta on Faial, where the world-famous Peter’s Café Sport awaits sailors from all over the world. On a previous trip, we had the unforgettable experience of observing a majestic blue whale – an impressive moment that made sailing on the Azores even more memorable.
Horta on the island of Faial is the perfect starting point for your sailing adventure on the Azores. The international airport of Horta is easily accessible, with regular connections via Lisbon or other Portuguese cities. From there, you can quickly and easily reach our port, where your sailing trip begins. After an unforgettable trip, you can also land in Horta and start your return journey – with wonderful memories in your luggage.
In May, Azores is at its best: pleasant temperatures of around 16-20°C and a mild breeze make for ideal sailing conditions. The sea is still fresh, but perfect for exploring and enjoying. The islands are covered in lush greenery during this month and the often clear skies offer spectacular views of the impressive volcanic landscape and coastline. May on the Azores is a wonderful time to experience nature in its full glory and enjoy the freedom of sailing in one of Europe’s most unspoiled regions.
Faial – the gateway to the archipelago
The journey begins on Faial, one of the most famous islands in the archipelago. The island is famous for its picturesque harbor in Horta, which is a popular meeting place for sailors from all over the world. Faial offers a fascinating mix of volcanic craters, green valleys and breathtaking coastal landscapes. The view of the Pico volcano from Faial is unmistakable and an absolute highlight.
São Jorge – natural beauty and tranquillity
From Faial, you sail to São Jorge, an island known for its impressive cliffs and deep valleys. The landscape is largely untouched, and sailors can moor here in secluded bays and enjoy the tranquillity of nature. São Jorge is also famous for its “fajãs”, fertile plains at the foot of the cliffs that can only be reached via narrow paths.
Pico – the imposing volcanic island
The next stop is Pico, the “volcanic island” of Azores. The highest mountain in the archipelago, the Pico volcano, towers majestically from the Atlantic. In addition to breathtaking volcanic craters, this island also offers picturesque vineyards, which are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Sailing around Pico offers breathtaking scenery and the opportunity to anchor in quiet bays and enjoy the clear waters.
Terceira – history and culture
After Pico, we continue to Terceira, an island with a rich history and a vibrant culture. The capital Angra do Heroísmo is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its well-preserved historic buildings and charming streets. Terceira is not only a cultural center, but also a place with a wild, untamed nature that offers sailors numerous opportunities for discovery.

This sailing trip between the islands of Azores offers a perfect combination of breathtaking nature, cultural discoveries and unforgettable sailing experiences.
