The small island state of Antigua & Barbuda, with just 70,000 inhabitants, used to be the “stronghold” of the British navy, as any point in the Caribbean could be reached quickly under sail from there. Even today, Antigua is a hotspot for sailors in the Caribbean.
Antigua offers a lot with its 365 beaches and bays, you can anchor in Nonsuch Bay on the windward side behind a reef, swim with rays at Stinger Ray Island or sail through a passage at Jolly Harbour inside the reef on the west side.
In one of the most beautiful natural harbors, English Harbour with Nelson’s Dockyard and the neighboring Falmouth Harbour with the Antigua Yacht Club is one of the hot spots for sailors in the Caribbean. They are the venue for the annual Antigua Sailing Week and the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta
Condor will fly directly from Frankfurt to Antigua every Tuesday in winter 2024/2025.
British Airways fly to Antigua almost daily from London and Antigua is also easily accessible via Canada/Toronto. One or more overnight stays before the sailing trip (e.g. at Nelson’s Dockyard) in English Harbour are a good idea.
The best time to visit Antigua is during the winter months right through to April. The sun shines most of the time and the tropical temperatures combined with the trade winds make the island a paradise for vacationers and sailors alike. Tropical beach vacation at its best: the water temperature in Antigua is extremely pleasant all year round at up to 28 °C.
We offer here on the one hand week trips around Antigua and Barbuda on the one hand, but also longer cruises via St. Barths, Saba, St. Kitts, Montserrat and Guadeloupe on. As one of the highlights of the Caribbean season, CHRONOS and RHEA take part in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta
at the beginning of April! St. Barth is the celebrity island in the Caribbean and especially on New Year’s Day or at the end of March for the Bucket Regatta
an impressive ensemble of the largest super yachts can be found there. The island of Saba is a Dutch municipality with the highest mountain in the Netherlands. Especially the island of Montserrat with the active volcano “Soufrière“, which completely destroyed the island’s capital Plymouth during eruptions from 1995-1997 and whose activities can still be experienced today.
