A sailing trip from 50 means one thing above all: not having to worry about anything. The time has finally come to experience something very special and fulfill a long-cherished dream. Enjoy a well-deserved break with a balanced mix of relaxation, nature and luxury.
A sailing vacation for couples or solo travellers over 50 combines freedom and organized comfort in a special way. On a sailing trip, travelers of all ages, whether over 50, 60 or even over 70, enjoy an exclusive experience without mass tourism, but with plenty of wind around their noses and the wonderful feeling of waking up every day in a quiet bay and, above all, without a fixed plan.
A stylish and wonderfully relaxing journey awaits you on a sailing cruise, whether you set sail alone or as a couple. On one of the exclusive boutique yachts CHRONOS, RHEA or KAIRÓS, you will sail with just 16 to 26 passengers in total; ideal if you belong to the 50+ generation and value peace and quality. In a family atmosphere, contacts are quickly made, while at the same time there is plenty of room for privacy. Thanks to the attentive crew and first-class catering with a private chef, full board and no unexpected additional costs in the form of a classic onboard catering service, you will glide across the water completely satisfied and well looked after – past sun-drenched coasts, to hidden bays and charming harbor towns in the Mediterranean Sea or to the turquoise blue lagoons and endless sandy beaches of the Caribbean.
In contrast to the classic 50+ sail-along or self-catering charter, you will experience maximum comfort, service and personal freedom on a sailing cruise on board the luxury yachts from Sailing-Classics with up to ten crew members.
Imagine waking up every morning on the water, gently rocking in a sheltered bay. A first-class breakfast awaits you on deck under the first warming rays of the day, freshly prepared by the private chef. While you are still deciding whether to treat yourself to another delicious omelette or a freshly squeezed orange juice, the crew prepares for the next stage in the background. When the anchors are weighed, you can either lend a hand or simply take in the view of the glistening water – the choice is yours.
Once you reach the next bay, you can cool off with a swim or grab a snorkel and dive into a colorful underwater world. And perhaps you would like to test your balance by stand-up paddling against this dream backdrop?
Then it’s back to the yacht, where you will be served a light lunch before the sails are hoisted again. In the afternoon, you can either relax on the sun deck or hop on a dinghy to take part in a shore excursion – whatever suits you best.
So much sea air makes you hungry (and thirsty), so the sundowner and multi-course dinner on deck are just right. Enjoy a first-class menu in the evening. Choose between excellent wines and end the day under the glittering starry sky.
You decide how actively you want to sail and what touch you want to add to your individual daily routine. Sailors of all ages, whether professionals or beginners, are welcome to help out, for example with hoisting the sails or steering. Pleasure-seekers simply sit back, watch the hustle and bustle, read a book or take a nap. The motto at Sailing-Classics: everything can be done, nothing has to be. You have the choice and can decide anew and freely every day. Either way, the crew has everything under control so that you don’t have to worry and can enjoy your idleness with a clear conscience.
Sailing-Classics has three stylish large sailing yachts to choose from for your sailing trip. CHRONOS, RHEA and KAIRÓS combine a classic sailing experience with a high level of comfort, personal service and a deliberately private atmosphere.
Depending on the yacht, you travel with 16 to 26 guests and enjoy air-conditioned cabins, spacious deck areas, an experienced crew and fresh cuisine on board. Whether in the Mediterranean Sea, on an Atlantic voyage or in the Caribbean, each yacht offers the perfect setting for an exclusive sailing vacation, regardless of age.
A sailing trip sounds like a rather active journey at first, and you may be wondering whether you need to have any sailing experience. The answer is quite clear: no. With Sailing-Classics you are in good hands even if you have never been on a sailing yacht before. No previous experience is required, as the experienced crew will take care of navigation, setting the sails and all the procedures on board. If you wish, you can help out at any time, but you don’t have to.
You can also leave the issue of safety to the experts: All yachts are licensed as passenger ships, have the latest technology and are managed by experienced captains who know their areas inside out.
And how physically demanding is a sailing trip for guests over 50? Less than many people think. Sailing on our yachts is easy to do and very comfortable; top sporting performance is not required. Normal mobility is perfectly adequate, whether you are on deck, getting in and out of the dinghy or going ashore.
We can also answer the question of whether you are “too old” for a sailing trip at 50, 60 or 70 with a clear “no”. Most of the guests on our sailing yachts are aged between 40 and 75, which creates a pleasant, balanced atmosphere. Many travel as a couple, some alone, and conversations and new acquaintances quickly develop over an aperitif at sunset or over dinner.
Even if you only want to discover the world under sail at the age of 60 or 70, the decisive factor is not age, but the desire for new impressions, fresh sea air and decelerated and comfortable travel.
Choose the route for your sailing trip that suits your individual needs. Whether a sailing vacation full of Mediterranean lightness in the Mediterranean Sea or a sailing cruise in the sun-drenched Caribbean, the right offer is waiting for you – whether you are traveling alone, with friends or with your loved ones under white sails.
A possible sailing cruise in the Mediterranean Sea takes you to Greece, where you can combine culture and warm hospitality with a special sailing experience in the deep blue sea. The Cyclades, Peloponnese and Ionian Islands are known for their impressive ancient sites, charming harbor towns and pristine landscapes – ideal for experiencing culture on land and life at sea in one trip. Between sun-drenched islands, white villages and hidden bays, you will find the perfect conditions for varied yet peaceful sailing days.
Lovers of the sweet life and gourmets are drawn to Italy, heading for the Amalfi Coast, often described as divine, the unspoiled island of Sardinia with its emerald green waters or the Aeolian Islands off Sicily, a fascinating volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea that is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Indulge in Mediterranean delicacies on board and ashore during your sailing cruise and admire the magnificent landscape full of olive groves, rugged coastlines and picturesque villages.
Maximum elegance not only on board, but also on land awaits you on the Côte d’Azur, for example on a sailing trip to Saint-Tropez, as well as at the exclusive spots that we call at with our yachts on Mallorca and Menorca. The short journey is the icing on the cake for your sailing trip – combined with sophisticated harbors, crystal-clear water and an attractive mix of lifestyle and nature. During the day, you anchor in shimmering turquoise bays, jump directly from the deck into the sea and feel the wonderful tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle, while in the evening you immerse yourself in the lively flair of the Mediterranean ports.
When the grey season comes knocking in Europe, the Caribbean welcomes you on a sailing cruise with a sea of bright colors, powdery white beaches, lush green vegetation and wonderful temperatures. From November to April, you can explore the Grenadines, Antigua or the British Virgin Islands, for example, and let yourself be infected by the joie de vivre and the swing of Caribbean rhythms. Gentle trade winds and short distances between the islands create ideal conditions for island hopping under sail.
You can hardly wait to see our yachts with your own eyes and would like to cast off immediately? Then book the package for your sailing cruise from 50 that suits you.
You can either reserve individual cabins or opt for a full charter, which means you have the whole yacht exclusively for yourself.
