Sailing cruises combine the fascination of the sea with the comfort of a floating hotel, but at Sailing-Classics we go one step further. Our trips on classic large sailing yachts do not offer you a standardized cruise program, but an authentic, decelerated sailing experience with a maximum of 26 fellow passengers. It’s the best of both worlds: The feeling of freedom under sail, combined with stylish comfort, personal service and plenty of space for genuine encounters. If you love the sea, you won’t just sail with us, you’ll feel with us.
On a sailing cruise with Sailing-Classics, hardly anything is predetermined – and that is precisely our strength. Unlike large cruises, where every routing and every port is planned and booked well in advance, here you are guided by the wind. This means that if the conditions are ideal, you can sail on in the evening under a starry sky or anchor in a sheltered bay in a calm. Spontaneous island tours, hikes or swimming stops before breakfast are not the exception, but the norm. The soul slows down as soon as you are barefoot on deck and let your gaze wander over the glittering sea while the sail is in the wind and the ship glides gently through the waves.
It is precisely this combination of planning on a large scale and spontaneity on a small scale that creates a special appeal. The experience is immediate, close to nature and yet comfortable. Dolphins accompany the ship, flying fish jump out of the water and, with a bit of luck, you might even spot a sea turtle or two. Moments like these cannot be programmed – you have to earn them with patience, mindfulness and the desire to really be at sea rather than just traveling on it.
At 10-14 m², the cabins on our tall ships CHRONOS, RHEA and KAIRÓS are smaller than the suites on a cruise liner, but are lovingly designed, air-conditioned, with their own bathroom and real portholes for natural light. However, hardly anyone stays there during the day, life on deck is too tempting. Everyday life on a sailing cruise is relaxed and informal. Guests and crew meet at eye level, people are on first-name terms, walk barefoot, eat together on deck or in the cozy bar. The cuisine is fresh, regional and tailored to individual needs. What is missing is the oversupply – what remains is quality.
You don’t need gala evenings or formal dress codes to feel at home. The luxury here lies in the real experience: the taste of salty air, the view of the horizon, the feeling of traveling with the wind. And all this in an environment where individualists, sailing enthusiasts and cultured explorers meet, often forming bonds on board that extend far beyond the voyage.
Sailing cruises are not only a special travel experience, they are also one of the most sustainable forms of maritime travel. Our yachts require only a fraction of the fuel of classic cruise ships, if only because we sail as soon as the wind allows. This is supplemented by low-sulphur diesel, water recycling, plastic-free concepts and biodegradable cleaning agents. Food is mainly purchased locally, which supports the regional economy, especially in sensitive regions such as Caribbean.
Our ships are also architecturally designed to blend harmoniously into small harbors and bays without promoting mass tourism with all its negative consequences. This creates real proximity to nature, culture and the local people.
Whether along the Greek Cyclades, through the Caribbean islands or along Italy’s famous coasts – a sailing cruise takes you to places that large cruise ships cannot reach. But above all, it also brings you back to yourself: In the calm of the sea, the steady beat of the waves, the sound of the wind in the sails, there is something primal that makes us pause for a moment.
Anyone who appreciates the comfort of a boutique hotel, is looking for the feeling of real seafaring and does not want to drift with the flow of the masses will find that a sailing cruise is perhaps the most beautiful form of travel on the water.
