Experience an unforgettable 5-night sailing trip on board the KAIRÓS from Syracuse to Malta. Discover the fascinating coastal landscape of Sicily, enjoy the open sea and be enchanted by the Mediterranean charm of Malta. We start in Syracuse, one of the most historic cities in Sicily, where Greek temples and Baroque splendor meet. After embarking, it’s “cast off” and the KAIRÓS sets sail along the south coast. Depending on the weather, we head for beautiful bays, take time for refreshing swim stops and enjoy life on board.
The crossing to Malta is a real highlight for sailing enthusiasts – open sea, gentle waves and the wide horizon make this experience unique. Once in Malta, the impressive fortress walls of Valletta, picturesque coastal villages and the fascinating history of the island await us.
Every sailing trip follows the conditions of nature. The itinerary shown is a non-binding orientation and can change depending on wind and weather.
Independent arrival in Syracuse and embarkation in the afternoon. The historic old town of Ortigia, with its narrow lanes, Baroque façades and the Piazza del Duomo, provides a memorable setting for the start of your voyage.
On board you get to know the crew, your fellow travellers and the yacht. Over a welcome drink and the first dinner together, you settle in for the days ahead between Sicily and Malta.
In the morning we leave Syracuse and head south. Today is all about sailing: the passage crosses the open sea from the Sicilian coast towards the Maltese archipelago.
Depending on wind and conditions, we reach the waters around Gozo in the course of the day. A sheltered bay invites you to take the first plunge and enjoy a relaxed evening at anchor.
Gozo is considerably quieter and greener than the main island of Malta. Its coastline is shaped by steep cliffs, small bays and striking rock formations.
When conditions allow, there is time to go ashore. Inland, a visit to the Citadel of Victoria is well worth it – from its walls the view stretches far across Gozo. Afterwards we return on board and continue to a peaceful anchorage.
Only a few nautical miles separate Gozo from the small island of Comino. Almost uninhabited, it is best known for its exceptionally clear, turquoise waters.
The Blue Lagoon and the surrounding bays offer ideal conditions for swimming, snorkelling and water sports. Aboard the yacht we can also – depending on the weather and the number of visitors – head for quieter anchorages along the rugged coast.
From Comino we sail on along the coast of Malta. Rocky bays, natural harbours and historic fortifications define the scenery.
Depending on conditions, there is ample time for sailing and a swimming stop. In the afternoon we seek out a suitable anchorage for the night – with a view of the Maltese coast.
Today we reach the area around Valletta. Entering the Grand Harbour is especially impressive from the water: fortress walls, bastions and the historic Three Cities line one of the best-known natural harbours in the Mediterranean.
Ashore there is time for a stroll through Valletta, with its characteristic lanes, the Upper Barrakka Gardens and its many historic buildings.
To round things off, we enjoy the Maltese coast from the water once more. Depending on wind and weather, we sail to one of the island’s bays and make a final swimming stop.
In the evening we return to our port of disembarkation. At the traditional Captain’s Dinner, you look back together on the voyage from Sicily via Gozo and Comino.
After a final breakfast on board, it is time to say goodbye to the crew, your fellow travellers and the yacht. Disembarkation in Malta and independent onward travel, or an extended stay on the island.

KAIROS
Our first ship — and with her this special sailing concept was founded in 2007. At 38 m long with 556 m² of sail area, KAIRÓS is a little smaller than CHRONOS and RHEA, which makes her all the more personal and lets guests lend a hand on deck.
